Adventure Wonderland is a popular family attraction in Dorset, which has been providing great days out for over 30 years. We were excited to work with them to bring their ticketing online in time for their Christmas event, helping them to navigate through the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Creative Capacity Management

Before 2020, you'd have struggled to find many attractions that were actively attempting to limit their ticket sales; in fact, quite the opposite! Typically, the aim of the game is to sell as many tickets as you can. In 2020, however, one of our most common requests was to help with a plethora of different ways to limit capacity – some of which were exceptionally creative. The Adventure Wonderland Team were looking to launch their Santa Show, whilst carefully limiting ticket sales, to allow them to provide a great experience for their customers that was still as safe as possible.

Based in the Happydrome Theatre, the Adventure Wonderland team had been busy installing Reindeer Stables, in which they could socially distance nine families, seating a maximum of six per group. As you might expect this required detailed logistical planning and the ability to limit ticket sales for each session was absolutely key. With the Elf and Safety Team on standby it was up to the DigiTickets Onboarding Team to create their new site, making it customer-friendly and intuitive while working within their requirements.

Meeting Deadlines

Typically, getting a client set up with DigiTickets takes between two to four weeks. Adventure Wonderland needed to go live in four days.

We're not ones to shy away from a challenge though, so despite the timeframe being a mere 20% of our usual turnaround we got to work, focusing on achieving the goal in order to help Adventure Wonderland to have a successful event in an especially difficult year.

To make this happen we required absolute focus from both companies, not to mention an absolute marathon of project management. As well as getting the site functional we were also committed to keeping it to our usual high standards and making sure that the client was completely happy with it, which required immense levels of commitment and communication. However, just four days later we were able to launch their fantastically festive ticketing site! Once those all-important sales limits came into place, allowing the Santa Show to become a reality, it was no surprise that the event sold out!

Developing The Site

Since their exceptionally successful Christmas event, Adventure Wonderland have continued to use DigiTickets for special events, annual passes, gift vouchers, and birthday parties. The Adventure Wonderland site has developed as the team there have worked with DigiTickets to make the most of our extensive feature set, providing the best possible experience for their customers.
